I tried to connect per remote on my work pc from my private notebook, I am connected to the work Wlan and the remote connection worked this way from another notebook but not from mine.
Then I tried to ping the machine that I want to connect to and I just get: "general failure"
I have no clue what is causing the problem.
"File and printer sharing" is activated on the firewall.

You are saying you have VPN dialed on your work computer and you cannot ping machines on your LAN? This may be expected. VPN may reconfigure routing so that your local network is no longer accessible.
