how to restore softwares in linux from an old hard drive

Image
0 I recently removed my old harddrive from my linux machine, as the linux was corrupted due to accidental deletion of /bin folder. I have inserted a new harddisk and installed a new linux system (which is newer version than the previous one), and have the old harddisk with me. My question is how do I restore important softwares and packages I had in my old harddrive to the new one? Any suggestions would be largely appreciated! linux hard-drive restore share | improve this question asked Jan 12 at 17:23 dipankar dipankar 1

How do I run CHKDSK on EFI System Partition?

Image
1 I tried dual booting Ubuntu with Windows 10 in my Dell laptop. An grub-install error appeared. Checking through the log files, a launchpad expert advised that my EFI sytem partition is corrupt and I need to run chkdsk on ESP. Link: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/170316‌7 Unfortunately, I do not find any clear resource explaining the same. Kindly explain me the appropriate procedure. windows windows-10 partitioning chkdsk efi share | improve this question edited Jul 11 '17 at 17:00 Benedict Florance
