Black screen for videos
I have a strange problem with videos in Firefox:
After a while videos played via a HTML5 video player only show a black screen, when actually being played.
The videos play just fine when I restart Firefox or when I play them in Chrome. Also, the audio of the video plays without problems and I can see the preview image before playing.
This happens with YouTube, Vimeo and other players.

Sorry to ask, are you saying you don't have any issues playing the same video with Chrome? I would suspect it could be a plugin issue... You'd have to disable all the plugins and try again... Also, make sure your video card is up to date, as is FF

@DaveRook: Yeah, as you can see in the video, Chrome plays the video without problems, so it is not a video card issue. Furthermore, as I said, restarting Firefox also solves the problem, so I don't see how this could be a plugin issue. FInally, FF is automatically updated.

Can you describe when it happens? I mean, if restarting FF fixes it, how does it re-occur? If you remain on the one video, and keep refreshing or replying the video, does it eventually die?

@DaveRook: I never could figure out the trigger. It just happens after some time. But it might be connected to the memory usage. I basically never exit firefox or shut down my computer. I only restart it when the videos that aren't working annoy me too much or the memory usage is way over the top. Like yesterday with 2GB...

This is a common error to me. When I fix it, I ensure Firefox is up to date, all plugins are up to date and make sure that Flash is up to date. YouTube runs on flash (the videos only) so make sure it is all the newest version available.

Flash got nothing to do with it. YouTube videos run with HTML 5 player in my account. You can choose which one you want.

This is a common error to me. When I fix it, I ensure Firefox is up to date, all plugins are up to date and make sure that Flash is up to date. YouTube runs on flash (the videos only) so make sure it is all the newest version available.
