USB appears to enter sleep when attempting to format or modify partitions
I have this really odd problem with my Lexar 16GB USB.
I've had this USB for possibly 3 years now, and recently I tried to format it with FAT32. When I start the format process, the light on the USB begins to pulse, gradually getting brighter, then dimming; and repeating this for what seems like an infinite loop. It never finishes formatting.
Things I've tried that all result in the pulsating light:
- Using Windows, macOS, and GParted to format the drive
- Using Diskpart to clean the drive
- Changing the partition table in GParted (by Create Partition Table)
When attempting any of those tasks, I do not get an error message on my computers. It's only the blinking USB light.
On macOS, the Details get stuck after Unmounting the disk.
In Windows it's recognized as a RAW partition, but I can't do much with it (I can change the Drive Letter).
I'm guessing it may be a bad block, but could anyone provide some insight to possible ways that the USB could be formatted (that's my main goal: I do not care about data if there is any on it)?
Thanks a lot!
