Create Desktop Shortcuts on a HP SmartTouch IQ-504 running LinuxMint 19.1
I have looked at the following:
How to create shortcuts to application on the desktop on Linux Mint 18 or up?
From the accepted answer there, Method 1, "Make link" is not in the pulldown.
From Method 3 of the accepted answer, "+create launcher" from the desktop does not open.
From zerox's answer, creating links with terminal and Alt, Ctrl + Shift works but clicking on the icons created on the desktop does not launch the program when I hit 'run'.
The programs launch fine when I run them from the folder they are installed in.

There are also three other solutions described there. It isn't clear what your question is. You only need one method that works.
