Determine the formula for the expected value
$begingroup$
So I'm given an assignment in probability and statistic that states the following:
In a supermarket on every cash register cashiers server(independently from one another) a total number of n customers in one hour. The cash registers are not available in any given moment.
If the market has 3 cash registers find the point estimation for the total number of served customers in one hour.
I assume we need to find the expected value after which we will find the point estimation. However I don't know the formula for the density function or for the probability formula if its a discrete distribution.
Is this a variance of the Poisson Distribution?
Thank you in advance.

Not knowing exactly what you mean byThe cash registers are not available in any given moment.
it is not possible to solve the problem.
