I am trying to run make modules_prepare
on my kernel source, but I constantly get the error
gcc: error: unrecognized command line option ‘-mgeneral-regs-only’
Kbuild:21: recipe for target 'kernel/bounds.s' failed
make[1]: *** [kernel/bounds.s] Error 1
Makefile:1084: recipe for target 'prepare0' failed
make: *** [prepare0] Error 2
I couldn't find out if this is related to the gcc version or not. Is this option necessary? How can I make this work?
linux raspberry-pi kernel make

The simplest google search would have found it : gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/AArch64-Options.html

It does tell that is an option of gcc, which was your question...
