AWS EC2 missing kernel modules. Can't install them?
Running ubuntu server 18.04 on an EC2 and for some reason, my linux kernel seems to be missing a bunch of critical modules. When trying to run ufw
. I get this error:
ERROR: problem running iptables: modprobe:
FATAL: Module ip_tables not found in directory /lib/modules/4.15.0-1032-aws
I checked in the /lib/modules/4.15.0-1032-aws
folder and found that a bunch of stuff is missing from there that does exist in another instance I have running.
When I transfer the modules from my working EC2 to the broken one, everything works fine. However, if i restart the broken one, then the kernel modules get wiped again
Does anyone know what might be the cause of this?
