spyder 3.3.2(dev) does not allow multi-line input

0

I have just installed this version of spyder, running python 3.6. In the Ipython console I am not able to run multiple lines in any sort of loop structure.

Example: the following code is from my Ipython session running in the Windows command window:

a = [1,2,3]
for i in a:
... print(i)
... j = 2 * i
... print(j)
...
1
2
2
4
3
6

Note that I can have as many lines as I want under the 'for' loop until I hit ENTER twice. I the console window of spyder, as soon as I hit the ENTER key after 'print (i)' the loops executes:

for i in a:
print(i)
1
2
3

Note that I was not able to enter the line that read 'j = 2 * i' because the loop executed immediately.

This is not the way spyder is supposed to behave and is not the way it behaved before I reinstalled it. I've looked for some option under preferences that might control this but can't find any.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
