Windows server with SQL installed all of a sudden failed to connect to the SQL database. suspected virus

  1. Windows start -> "System Configuration"

  2. Services Tab

  3. Hide all Microsoft services

  4. Look for a service called "xwinwpdsrv" and disable it

  5. Restart server

  6. Windows start -> "SQL Server Configuration Manager"

  7. under "SQL Server Service" right click on your database and click start


this fixed the problem for me

  4. Look for a service called "xwinwpdsrv" and disable it

  5. Restart server
