Ifup wlan0 not working on kali-linux

I recently switched IP’s. Before whenever I connected to my wifi I would have to kill wpasupplicant and the Network Manager processes then restart the Network Manager before I could connect online. But that doesn’t help anymore. Wlan0 shows up and I have the right credentials in the network interfaces file but when I bring it down it says it isn’t configured. When I bring it up it says the /sbin/wpa_supplicant daemon failed to start. I tried all types of wpa_supplicant configurations as well but nothing. Any ideas?
