          I have had moderate success trying to work with and modify Git for Windows' behavior, including the Bash it ships with.



          What I can recommend is installing Babun, which is a complete and standalone Cygwin installation featuring a package manager, pre-installed Zsh, and many Unix tools.



          It's set up to use Zsh by default, and using pact, you can install additional packages — somewhat similar to apt.
