Visual Studio code - detecting incorrect version
I'm using visual studio code on an ubuntu vm to develop a node.js application. When launching any debug option the following message appears within the debug console:
"Debugging with legacy protocol because Node.js v4.2.6 was detected."
I don't understand why this version of node is being detected, I'm not aware of ever installing it, and thought I was using version 6.12.3. What do I need to do for vscode to detect the version of node I'm actually using?
npm --version outputs
2.15.1
nvm list outputs this:
-> v6.12.2
v8.11.3
v8.12.0
system
default -> 8.12.0 (-> v8.12.0)
node -> stable (-> v8.12.0) (default)
stable -> 8.12 (-> v8.12.0) (default)
iojs -> N/A (default)
lts/* -> lts/dubnium (-> N/A)
lts/argon -> v4.9.1 (-> N/A)
lts/boron -> v6.16.0 (-> N/A)
lts/carbon -> v8.15.0 (-> N/A)
lts/dubnium -> v10.15.1 (-> N/A)
