Hook to shutdown VirtualBox on restart due to Windows Update

0

Although those of us on Windows 10 Home are stuck with uncontrolled system restarts due to Windows Update, is there a way to add a hook that will run whenever Windows restarts or shuts down, whether due to user action or to a Windows Update?

I run VirtualBox on my Windows 10 Home system and several times the Linux VM has had its filesystem damaged by these wildcat restarts from Windows Update.

  • If you have a way of checking and identifying a specific error string from a file, etc. then there should be a way to trigger some sort of action. Consider looking for some commonalities from log files or something else you can capture and check in an automated manner. Just an idea but that's where I'd start—and trying to automate the tasks that run to fix when identified.
