Can I use a windows 10 system image from a SP4 on a different SP4?
I checked out a couple similar questions here on SU but the one that gave me hope was Using a Windows System Repair Disc to restore a System Image on a blank HDD but that question the user still had the same hardware :/
Here is the skinny.
I made a system image of my windows 10 pc(surface pro 4) before sending it in because of flickergate. I now have a "new" surface. I tried to boot via the system image from my old one. Ooops, Looks like you can't do that. It did prompt me to burn a "system recovery disk". I can't remember if those were the exact words but it asked me to burn a disk because it needed to reformat the drive the Windows Recovery Environment is on. Will I be able to use this disk on my new surface? And which drive is it talking about; the external hdd my image is on or my surface's sdd?
I don't have a usb cd/dvd drive so I'll need to purchase one.
I also did a Win10 FileHistory backup, but I really don't want to install all my applications again :(

If the hardware is the same it should be able to work, but I dont have any experience with W10 and its system image software.
