To whom was Stark's phrase “When I drift off, I will dream about you”? [closed]

In the trailer for Avengers: Endgame, at the end of the recording video Stark says "When I drift off, I will dream about you. It's always you". Was it addressed to Pepper Potts or his costume?

Why would Stark dream about his own costume?

  • The entire premise of the question makes no sense. Either he's clearly saying it to Pepper or we don't know who else he's saying it to. As said, watch the actual film and then come back if you still think this is a sensible and coherent question. Stop scanning the trailer for useless incomplete questions that will lose any sense once the film is released.

@Vishwa Then let's ask this question again in the future, provided it isn't actually answered in the very sentence right before that trailer scene in the actual film. The point is, most of these "oh, I found an enigma in that super mysterious trailer scene" question become entirely useless when the film is released, because that's how trailers are made, you take a bunch of interesting scenes and rip them out of context. But that context is what gives those scenes sense. We're not going to speculate the entire story of the film together by looking at each and every trailer scene.

Of course he said that for Pepper. And whole internet is going gaga over it already:

Tony Stark saying “It’s Always You” in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Trailer is Causing an Emotional Stir

But we are not sure if she is even alive or not, and that's inspiring funny memes too.

me.me

But he clearly addresses her in the trailer too.

If you are interested, time.com dissected the trailer quite well.
